Welcome to a community where you can share ideas on how to make a difference.
Welcome to the brand new Generate Choice blog!25 November 2010 | 100 Comments Hi, and welcome to ENMAX’s Generate Choice blog about alternative energy. My name is Colin and I’m a technology specialist here at ENMAX Corporation. I’ve been interested in renewable and alternative energy technologies for a long time, and I’ve been fortunate enough to have a job that overlaps with my personal interests. Like Confucius said, “Find a job you love and you’ll never work a day in your life.” I’ve been interested in renewable energy for as long as I can remember. I’m not entirely sure why, but the idea of living sustainably and self-sufficiently just appeals to me at some fundamental level. Just so you don’t think that I’m all hat and no cattle, I’ve got to share my latest project with you: a net-zero home. I’ve built a home that has all the modern conveniences that one would expect, along with a super-efficient construction that allows renewable energy technologies to heat and power it. You can find a short article on my project at issuu.com/routes/docs/2010_fall_issue. Generate Choice is about community, and the idea behind this blog is to create a community where folks can learn and discuss ideas on renewable and alternative energy options. I hope that you come back regularly and participate. I’m really excited about the possibilities for renewable and alternative energy in our common future and I hope we can start a dialogue to explore a lot of interesting technology together. I personally find this stuff fascinating! This blog is primarily for the homeowner who wants to learn more about using renewable and alternative energy. You won’t need any special background to get a benefit from these posts, but I will try and keep it detailed enough to keep it interesting for those who are extra keen. I envision future topics on solar, wind, micro-CHP, electric cars, fuel cells, home energy management, energy efficiency, LED lighting, etc. Basically, anything to do with either saving energy or making energy with renewable or alternative technologies. But we’ll have to see what you want to hear because that will dictate the content. For now, this blog will be just me, but in the future, who knows? We have a lot of folks that know a lot about energy-related stuff and this could be a great way to get them to share their expertise. Soon you will be able to post comments and share ideas on this blog – the beginnings of a true grassroots community. Be sure to stop by every week to check out the latest post. Welcome!
